Position Title: Part Time Deaf Blind Family Engagement Coordinator

Reports to: Co-Director for the NC Deaf-Blind Project

This is a grant-funded position



  • Provide one-on-one support for families raising children on the Deaf-Blind Census
  • Presentations both electronically (webinar) and in person
  • Facilitate Person Centered Planning (PCP) Trainings
  • Attend IEP meetings with Parents (if appropriate and approved by supervisor)
  • Serve on the Deaf-Blind Advisory Committee (Pending Approval)
  • Serve as member of the National Family Association for Deaf-Blindness
  • Work closely with both the NC Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHHS) and the NC Division of Services for the Blind
  • Work closely with East Carolina University – TA for Deaf-Blindness


  • Assist with the Deaf-Blind ECAC website page
  • Work with the Co-Director on the Deaf-Blind Fact Card
  • Add data into Salesforce within 48 hours of contact
  • Post frequently on Deaf/Blind Facebook page


Process expense reports


  • Attending other meetings/trainings as required
  • Ability to lift, on occasion, up to 20 pounds
  • Other duties as requested by supervisor


High School Diploma


At least 3 years of experience with children who are deaf-blind


  • Knowledge of the special education system
  • Knowledge of parenting an individual with deaf-blindness
  • Experience in advocacy on behalf of families of children who are deaf-blind
  • Good communication skills including basic knowledge of sign language and/or braille

Hours: 20 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $15.00 - $16.25 depending on qualification and experience

Bilingual (Spanish) a plus

Location: Must be within the state of North Carolina
