Published: March 26, 2021

ECAC is pleased to host this presentation by Andrea Martinez and Gaile Osborne from Disability Rights North Carolina (DRNC). In this training we will take a deep dive into what seclusion and restraint is in the school setting. We will discuss what parents rights are for their children and how to effectively advocate for the child to reduce use of both of those methods and prevent improper use all together.

Learning objectives:

Participants will be able to:

Define what seclusion and restraint is in school settings
Summarize parent and child rights regarding seclusion and restraint
Determine how to reduce or prevent use of seclusion and restraint of your child
Choose avenues to take when seclusion and restraint rights are violated
