Our Projects

Parent Training and Information Center (PTI)

ECAC is the state’s designated Parent Training and Information Center (PTI) and receives funding from the federal Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs. We serve North Carolina parents and family members of a child from birth to age 26 with special needs, professionals who work with children with special needs and children and youth with special needs from birth to age 26.

ACHIEVE Transition Program

ACHIEVE is a statewide, virtual Pre-ETS program designed for students with disabilities, ages 14 to 21. This program is available to those enrolled in an educational program who are eligible or potentially eligible for Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD) services and have a recognized need for Pre-Employment Transition Services.

Family to Family Health Information Center (F2F)

The Exceptional Children’s Assistance Center’s (ECAC) Family-to-Family (F2F) Health Information Center provides information and resources to families to help them navigate health related systems in North Carolina. F2Fs are family-led centers funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

North Carolina DeafBlind Project

The North Carolina DeafBlind Project (NCDBP) is a federally funded grant through the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) and is a collaboration between the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, Office of Exceptional Children, East Carolina University, and the Exceptional Children’s Assistance Center.

North Carolina State Improvement Project (NC SIP)

The North Carolina State Improvement Project (NC SIP) is a program in the Exceptional Children Division of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Funded by the Office of Special Education Programs in the U.S. Department of Education, the NC SIP grant has served the state for nearly 25 years by offering professional development around literacy and math evidence-based instruction.
