The North Carolina State Improvement Project (NC SIP) is a program in the Exceptional Children Division of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Funded by the Office of Special Education Programs in the U.S. Department of Education, the NC SIP grant has served the state for nearly 25 years by offering professional development around literacy and math evidence-based instruction. It works to improve the quality and effectiveness of educational programs and instruction for students with disabilities in North Carolina. Collaboration is essential to the success of NC SIP.
The project is a partnership across the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, local education agencies, institutes of higher education, and parents and parent organizations, including ECAC.
Through this Partnership, ECAC:
Unterstützt Schulen bei der Verwendung der Checkliste für Qualitätsindikatoren für das Familienengagement.

Coordinates and maintains the “Speakers Network” which is comprised of family members of students with disabilities. These parents share their stories in teacher preparation courses at universities.
Engages community partners to help increase family engagement through research-based activities.
