ACHIEVE Transition Program

ACHIEVE is a statewide, virtual Pre-ETS program designed for students with disabilities, ages 14 to 21. This program is available to those enrolled in an educational program who are eligible or potentially eligible for Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD) services and have a recognized need for Pre-Employment Transition Services. ACHIEVE is accessible to students in various educational settings, including those who are homeschooled, or enrolled in traditional public schools, charter schools, virtual schools, private schools, early college programs, vocational schools, college courses, or training programs. The ACHIEVE Transition Program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need for successful transitions from school to work and into adult life.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Eligibility: Students aged 14–21 with documented disabilities, including those on IEPs or 504 plans, enrolled in various educational settings such as public, private, charter, virtual, or home schools.

  • Delivery Mode: Entirely virtual, ensuring accessibility across all 100 North Carolina counties.
  • Program Duration: Courses run for 12-16 weeks, meeting once a week for one hour.
  • Class Size: Small group sessions with a maximum of 10 students to ensure personalized attention.

Our Partners in Transition

The ACHIEVE Pre-ETS Program is made possible through collaboration with statewide partners
dedicated to supporting youth with disabilities:

NC Division of Services for the Blind (DSB)
Offers specialized Pre-ETS for students with visual impairments, including self-advocacy training, postsecondary counseling, and work-based learning experiences.

Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD)
Formerly known as Vocational Rehabilitation, EIPD funds and oversees Pre-ETS statewide, helping students with disabilities prepare for employment and independence.

Curriculum Focus Areas

Job Exploration Counseling
Assisting students in identifying career interests and opportunities.

Self-Advocacy Skills
Empowering students to understand and communicate their needs effectively.

Workplace Readiness
Developing soft skills, resume writing, job application practices, and interview techniques. Navigating workplace relationships and handling conflicts.

Financial Literacy
Teaching money management and budgeting skills.

Liebes ECAC-Team,

Ich hoffe, dieser Brief erreicht Sie gut. Ich möchte Ihnen allen ein herzliches Dankeschön für Ihre Arbeit aussprechen. Frau Aimee Combs, ich weiß es zu schätzen, dass Sie sich weiterhin für Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene mit Behinderungen einsetzen und mir einen Platz an diesem Tisch einräumen. Ich bin so dankbar, dass ich alle Mitarbeiter kennenlernen durfte, und Ihre Leidenschaft für das, was Sie alle tun, ist ansteckend.

Als ich mit Frau Debra Pickens Kontakt aufnahm und meinen Freund und Mitstreiter Billy Pickens wiedertraf, hatte ich keine Ahnung, was mich erwartete. Ich hatte die Ehre, an den folgenden Veranstaltungen als Sprecher teilzunehmen: Die Duke Univ Health Equity Rounds, NCSU Family Leadership Summit, ECU Inclusion Summit und die Partners in Learning Conference, ganz zu schweigen von zahlreichen YAT-Veranstaltungen.

All diese und weitere Gelegenheiten haben mich nachhaltig geprägt und setzen auch weiterhin Maßstäbe in meinen Beziehungen zu anderen Organisationen. Ich danke Ihnen dafür, dass Sie in mich und in die Aufgabe investiert haben, die ich durch das Eintreten für unsere gemeinsamen Behindertengemeinschaften und die Schaffung und Betreuung dieser Gemeinschaften erfüllen soll. Ich freue mich auf weitere Gelegenheiten, auf den aufgebauten Beziehungen aufzubauen, und auf weitere Gelegenheiten, Sie alle zu unterstützen, mit Ihnen zusammenzuarbeiten und von Ihnen zu lernen, während Sie weiterhin unseren Staat, meine Generation sowie gegenwärtige und zukünftige Fürsprecher beeinflussen.
