Meet the ECAC Staff - Beth Voll
Published: October 2, 2023

What brought you to ECAC and tell us about your current role?

My passion for special education and wanting to make a positive difference in the lives of people with disabilities. I am currently in a dual role. I spend half of my time working with pre-employment transition services (Pre-ETS) as a career coach where I am fortunate to be able to work with students as they transition from high school to college or employment.  The other half of my time is spent as a parent educator.

Why do you love being a part of ECAC?

I love working with like-minded people who share my passion for making a difference

What is the most memorable event you have attended with ECAC?

I am fairly new to ECAC so I have not had the opportunity to attend many events but this is something I look forward to doing.

What keeps you motivated and inspired?

My children – Seeing them grow and learn and navigate this journey called life that we are all on.

What is one piece of advice you would like to give to the parents you work with?

Don't ever quit fighting/advocating for your children. Knowledge is power...never quit learning.

Tell us more about your life outside of ECAC.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my BIG family and friends. I have 4 boys, Brannon (24), Colin (19), Max (17), Will (13), two bonus children, Addison (15), Brayden (13) AND the sweetest dog Lucy. When the house is quiet I love to read. I am a beach girl all year round and enjoying going any chance I get.

One thing people may not know about me…

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, watching sports. I am not good at sports and I never have been (AND my family loves to give me a hard time about how uncoordinated I am) but that hasn’t kept me from enjoying going to and watching any and all sporting events. My favorite football.

Parent Testimonial

Dear ECAC Team,

I hope this letter finds you well. I want to express a heartfelt thank you to you all for your work. To Mrs. Aimee Combs, I appreciate your continued advocacy alongside youth and young adults disabilities and for allowing me to have a place at the table. I am so thankful to have met everyone on staff, and your passion for what you all do is infectious.

When I connected with Mrs. Debra Pickens and reconnected with my friend and fellow advocate Billy Pickens, I had no clue what was ahead.  I had the honor of participating as a voice in the following events: The Duke Univ Health Equity Rounds, NCSU Family Leadership Summit, ECU Inclusion Summit and the Partners in Learning Conference, not to mention numerous YAT opportunities and events.

All of these opportunities and more have had a lasting impact on me and continue to set the standard in my relationships with other organizations as well. Thank you for investing in me, and the mission that I was called to fulfill through advocating, creating and serving our shared communities of disabilities. I look forward to more opportunities to build upon the relationships established, and more opportunities to assist, collaborate and learn from you all as you continue to impact our state, my generation as well as present and future advocates.

Sincerely,
Mayia Warren
