ECAC is Hiring a Full Time Parent Educator

Responsibilities include providing accurate and timely information, training and assistance to parents and professionals on special education services. This position qualifies for remote work within the state of North Carolina. The ideal candidate is a parent or guardian of a child with a disability (birth–26) who has experience with special education laws, policies, and processes, as well as public speaking and/or training. However, we will also consider applicants who have extensive knowledge and experience in these areas, such as special education teachers or professionals with a strong background in supporting families and students with disabilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Respond to inquiries from families and professionals on special education policies and procedures.
• Assist families with children birth – 26 years of age to become effective advocates for their children in the educational and community settings.
• Develop and implement trainings (virtually and in-person) to meet the needs of families.
• Assist in development and distribution of informational materials and newsletters.

TECHNOLOGY:

• Collect and enter data using a CMS system, Salesforce
• Proficient in Zoom and Google Suites

EXPERIENCE:

• Preferably a parent or guardian of a child with a disability age birth – 26, or someone with comparable experience supporting families of children with disabilities.
• Experience with special education laws, policies, processes, and procedures
• Public speaking and/or trainings

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledge in special education and general education systems.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills including clarity and articulation of thought, appropriate grammar, style, form, and punctuation.
• Problem solving, motivational and excellent listening skills.

EDUCATION:

• High School diploma - 2-year degree in social sciences preferred

HOURS: 35-40 hours per week

HOURLY RATE: $23
