Math for All: Family Resources to Support Diverse Learners

Welcome to the North Carolina State Improvement Project (NC SIP) Math Resources page. Math is a key life skill that helps children build confidence and navigate everyday situations. For children with disabilities, developing math skills can open doors to greater independence and future opportunities. Schools and teachers play an essential role, but the best outcomes happen when families and educators work together. Hope you’ll find these tools, tips, and strategies helpful as you support your child’s math growth at home. These activities are designed to help you make the most of everyday teachable moments.  Every child is different, so not every activity will be the right fit for your child. Feel free to adjust or modify to better meet your child’s individual needs.

Families are essential to the growth and development of students. The positive impact on a child’s academic and emotional well-being is evident in the numerous research studies conducted for over 50 years. Below are some resources that can help families begin to take positive steps forward in partnering with schools to support their student’s achievement.

Estimado equipo de la ECAC,

Espero que esta carta os encuentre bien. Quiero expresar mi más sincero agradecimiento a todos ustedes por su trabajo. A la Sra. Aimee Combs, le agradezco su continua defensa de los jóvenes y adultos jóvenes con discapacidad y por permitirme tener un lugar en la mesa. Estoy muy agradecido de haber conocido a todos en el personal, y su pasión por lo que todos ustedes hacen es contagiosa.

Cuando conecté con la Sra. Debra Pickens y me reencontré con mi amigo y compañero defensor Billy Pickens, no tenía ni idea de lo que me esperaba. Tuve el honor de participar como voz en los siguientes eventos: The Duke Univ Health Equity Rounds, NCSU Family Leadership Summit, ECU Inclusion Summit y Partners in Learning Conference, por no mencionar numerosas oportunidades y eventos de YAT.

Todas estas oportunidades y otras más han tenido un impacto duradero en mí y siguen marcando la pauta también en mis relaciones con otras organizaciones. Gracias por invertir en mí y en la misión que se me encomendó de defender, crear y servir a las comunidades de discapacitados que compartimos. Espero con interés más oportunidades para construir sobre las relaciones establecidas, y más oportunidades para ayudar, colaborar y aprender de todos ustedes a medida que continúan impactando nuestro estado, mi generación, así como los defensores presentes y futuros.
