Tool Time Tuesdays Summer Series

We are excited to continue our series: Tool Time Tuesdays!

The Summer Series will focus on on topics and activities that would be of particular interest to families during the summer.

Our Tool Time Segments are 30 minutes or less.

Tool Time Tuesdays can be accessed via zoom or Facebook Live.

June 1 – Summer Camp – Aimee Combs

Join Aimee Combs as she shares a popular resource for families that have a child with a disability and/or special healthcare needs. The 2021 Summer Camp Directory! This directory is an annual product of the Family Support Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work.

June 8 – Binocular Project – Hannah, Alex and Teddy Bridges

Teddy, Alex and Hannah Bridges are going to teach everyone how to make binoculars out of toilet paper rolls! Anyone who wants to follow along will need 2 toilet paper rolls (or a paper towel roll cut in half), a hot glue gun or tape, string or yarn, scissors and any combination of paint, stickers and/or construction paper to decorate their binoculars!

Younger kids will need a grown-up or older kid to help with this project.

June 15 – Junior Ranger Program – Doreen Byrd

Doreen Byrd will showcase the Junior Ranger program that is offered by the National Park Service. There are in-person activities at many national parks, but also online opportunities to learn, explore and engage in fun activities related to nature and science.

June 22 – Math is Everywhere: Activities for Summer – Beverly Roberts

Math is everywhere you are. It is easier for children to learn math concepts if it is connected to their own experience. Join Beverly Roberts to explore fun math activities and tips that will help your child see math as a natural part of their day.

June 29th – Show and Tell – Karen Laughlin

There are some awesome books for young children that promote diversity and inclusion. Karen Laughlin will share some of our favorite books for young children that include children of different races, abilities, and interests. Please join us and let us know what you’re reading to your little ones.
