National Parent Leadership Month was established in 2000 to recognize, honor, and celebrate parents for their leadership roles in their homes and communities. Parent Leadership occurs when parents, grandparents, kinship care providers, foster parents, and anyone in a parenting role uses their experience, knowledge and skills to function in meaningful leadership roles and represent a “parent voice” to help strengthen the lives of families and communities. Parent Leadership also impacts programs, services and policies resulting in positive outcomes for families
