Workshops and Online Learning

ECAC provides free workshops and training opportunities for parents on a variety of topics. Each is designed to give you the information you need to become your child’s best advocate! Check out our online Training and Events calendar.

  • Workshops usually last 1 – 3 hours and are typically co-sponsored with a local organization. Our “in-person” parent education staff bring materials, conduct the workshop and answer questions from parents and professionals
  • Webinars are “electronic” workshops and conducted using our toll-free conference line and webinar service. Participants log in and participate in the webinar from the comfort or their home or office. For your convenience, we are also working hard to archive the webinars so that they can be viewed at any time.
  • Institutes are typically comprehensive 5-6 hour trainings and include all materials and lunch.
  • Online Learning provides you with an opportunity to participate in an ECAC workshop at your own pace.

Workshops and training topics include:

  • Informed Effective Parents
  • Writing Effective IEPs (Individualized Education Programs)
  • Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
  • Becoming Your Child’s Best and Most Effective Advocate!
  • I’m Growing Up! – Transition from Early Intervention to Preschool and/or Kindergarten Services
  • Life is a Journey… Prepare for the Trip!  (Transition to Adulthood)
  • EVERYONE Belongs: Inclusion
  • Literacy for All!
  • Writing a Good 504 Plan for Your Child
  • Assistive Technology:  It’s NOT Rocket Science!
  • Effective Communication Skills – Keep communication between home and school on the right track!

Workshops (“in person” learning opportunities) and online webinars are excellent ways to learn new information and tune up your skills. If you are interested in scheduling a workshop in your area, please contact Margaret Campbell at 1-800-962-6817, ext. 317.
